Jon Jones considers super fight against Anderson Silva: “I’m not afraid of him”

UFC officials do not hide their desire to see the organization's champions face each other in 2013. Initially, the expected duel was between Anderson Silva, middleweight champion (up to 84 kg.), against Georges St Pierre, owner of the welterweight belt (up to 77 kg.), but as the Canadian asked to defend his reign against Nick Diaz the fight was initially taken out of consideration.

As a result, rumors are once again emerging that the Spider could face the North American Jon Jones, light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg.). The Brazilian, at first, does not consider the fight, while Jones, without going into details, welcomes super fights in the Octagon.

“I think super fights are important for the sport, important for legacies. I don't really have the desire to compete in one, because I don't want to compete against anyone in particular unless someone comes and challenges me. I’m fine competing against light heavyweights,” said Jones, in an interview with MMA Weekly.

When asked directly about the duel against Spider, Jones commented that facing Anderson would be a big test for his career, but he guarantees that he is not afraid of facing the middleweight champion in the Octagon.

“Everything is a possibility. I believe we were put on this earth to think big and dream big, and not limit ourselves, and fighting Anderson would definitely be the test of my warrior spirit. So who knows what will happen in the future,” he said. “I'm not afraid of Anderson Silva. I’m not afraid of any man”, concluded the light heavyweight champion.
