The UFC 154 card marked the second title defense of Ben henderson among the lightweights, in addition to the Swedish Alexander Gustafson that frustrated the Brazilian Mauricio Shogun in the light heavyweight title race.
In addition to Shogun's setback, the show's fight program featured a Brazilian victory. On the preliminary card, Raphael Assunção showed great improvement in his striking and defeated Mike Easton by unanimous decision from the judges.
