Former title challenger in the women's strawweight division (up to 52,1kg), Claudia Gadelha He didn’t have his dream performance this weekend. In the fight that opened the main card of the UFC Las Vegas 13, held this Saturday (7), in the United States, the Brazilian had a tough commitment against yan xiaonan and ended up losing on points after three rounds.

Gadelha entered the octagon with the obligation to win to confirm her good form and put herself back in a position to compete for the title, which today belongs to Weili Zhang. The setback, however, momentarily takes the Brazilian away from the chance to face the champion.
While the Brazilian had her two-win streak interrupted, Xiaonan proved that she is, in fact, a name to watch for the organization. The triumph over the Mossoroense cemented the Chinese woman's unbeaten record in Ultimate, which now has six consecutive positive results.
After the confrontation, Yan should reach the top 5 once and for all, taking fourth place from the Brazilian. Before exchanging forces with Gadelha, the Chinese woman occupied eighth place in the group.
The fight
The confrontation began with the Chinese taking the initiative with a low kick. The Brazilian responded with two crosses to her rival's face. The duel was still busy in the center of the octagon. In the opening seconds, Gadelha surprised Yan with a straight shot, which shook her opponent. The Mossoroense went up and took her opponent to the ground. On the ground, Cláudia continued hitting her rival with punches and from top to bottom, while Xiaonan tried to defend herself. The Chinese woman showed strength and managed to get up, but Gadelha insisted on the clinch, pressing Yan against the bars. Time passed and Claudinha continued testing her opponent in isometrics, but without much force. With a lack of action, the referee made the fighters move away. Soon after returning, the Brazilian took down the Chinese again, but there was no more time.
In the second stage, Cláudia also started better. The Brazilian surprised her opponent again with a series of crosses, but the Chinese began to loosen up in the confrontation. Dangerous in counterattacks, Xiaonan waited for the Mossoroense's attacks and countered the attacks with jabs and kicks. The fighters continued to have a busy confrontation, exchanging attacks in the center of the Octagon. The advantage, however, was for the Chinese, who scored more and made her longer arms count. Gadelha found it difficult to enter her rival's range of action and Yan took advantage, responding with jabs and straight shots, which landed cleanly on the Mossoro native's face. In the final seconds, Cláudia tried to take down her opponent, but the timer ran to zero.
In the last round, the athletes needed to do their best to leave no doubt if the match went to the judges' decision. Right from the start, Cláudia bet on grappling and started to press the Chinese woman against the bars. The Brazilian was pushing hard, but Xiaonan didn't allow the fall. The Chinese managed to get away and the fight was fought again in the center of the Octagon. Yan remained dangerous with her jabs and the Brazilian still had difficulty finding the distance. Halfway through the round, the Mossoroense again looked for a takedown, but Xiaonan prevented the Brazilian's actions. Without attacks, the combatants were, once again, separated by the referee. In the final seconds, the fighters exchanged jabs and tried to score points and went into open exchanges, but the confrontation ended.
Andrei Arlovski beats Tanner Boser on points in warm fight

In the fight that preceded the main clash of the night, the veteran Andrei Arlovski won Tanner Boser in a tepid confrontation. Without many emotions, the former interim heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg) overcame an opponent 12 years younger in the judges' unanimous decision.
At 41 years old, Arlovski showed great physical conditioning against Tanner, who was unable to impose his pace against a well-known and experienced opponent. With the result, Andrei now has his second positive result in a row and his 30th victory as a professional in MMA.
In his fifth fight for Ultimate, Boser, 29, ended up suffering his second setback with the company's gloves. The Canadian also had a run of two wins interrupted.
In an exciting fight, Raoni Barcelos overcomes Khalid Taha

In one of the best fights of the night, Raoni barcelos proved to be at another level in the bantamweight division (up to 61,2kg.). Although he won on points, the Brazilian dominated Khalid Taha for three rounds and proved that he has what it takes to reach the top 15 in the category led by Petr yan.
At the end of the second round, Barcelos was close to knocking out his opponent, but Taha ended up being saved by the bell. With the result, Raoni maintains his unbeaten record in the UFC, in five appearances, he is closer than ever to the elite of the category.
Khalid, who debuted in Ultimate in 2018, remains without stability in the organization. In four commitments, there are two defeats, one unsuccessful fight and only one triumph.
In an interview after the fight, Raoni asked for an opponent from the top 10 or top 5. The athlete reaffirmed his dream of winning the division belt.
Giga Chikadze runs over Jamey Simmons with devastating knockout

The duel between the athletes remained busy, with attacks, but, after a sequence of two high kicks, Chikadze managed to break his rival's guard, who fell. Afterwards, Giga needed a few more hits to settle the bill. The result confirmed the Georgian's unbeaten record in Ultimate, with five positive results in a row.
While his opponent celebrates, Jamey laments the setback suffered in the UFC Las Vegas 13. The duel marked the North American's debut in the company and the third setback in 10 commitments in MMA.
