MMA representatives, Recep Tayyip Gultekin and Mikail Ozer fought far from the arenas where they usually fight against their opponents. Last Monday (2), athletes performed a scene of heroism when they saved an elderly woman and a police officer in a terrorist attack in the center of Vienna, Turkey. After the action, the athletes were decorated by the country's embassy, ​​receiving due credit.

The attack began with a shooting that took place in a synagogue in the center of Vienna. According to local police, four people were killed in the incident and 22 were injured. The episode was caused, according to local authorities, by a suspect of Albanian origin, a supporter of the Islamic State. The man ended up dying in the exchange of gunfire with the police.

According to 'Bloody Elbow, Recep and Ozer were trying to protect themselves when the exchange of gunfire began. Even though they were scared, the fighters managed to find the strength to help the lady and the police officer. At the time of the attack, Gultekin was shot, but is doing well.

“An elderly woman was on her way to the location, walking. When we saw the woman, we stopped and went down. We also took the woman to a safe location. Then, we went up to the subway station (which appears) in the images. I saw the police officer shot there”, said Mikail, in an interview with 'Hurryet'.
