After the last update in the Ultimate rankings, everything suggested that Sterling would be chosen to exchange forces against Yan. This Tuesday (13), the American took the place that belonged to Marlon Moraes – defeated last weekend by Cory Sandhagen – and, today, leads the group, behind only the champion.
Aljamain won the challenger status after a lightning victory over Sandhagen himself, who is now number two in the division. On that occasion, in a clash held in July, at UFC 250, Sterling needed less than two minutes to finish one of the most dangerous athletes in the division.
Aware of possible rivals, Petr became group champion in July, at UFC 251. The Russian occupied the throne abdicated by Henry Cejudo after winning a battle against the Brazilian José Aldo.
The clash between Yan and Sterling will represent the co-main fight of the UFC 256. The leading role in the show will be assumed by the Brazilian Amanda nunes e Megan anderson. In December, the ‘Lione’ will put her featherweight belt (up to 65,7kg) on the line once again.
