If Georges St-Pierre was a fighter known for not taking risks and following his strategy in the octagon, outside of combat, the Canadian likes to surprise. The former UFC welterweight (77,6kg) and middleweight (83,9kg) champion, who is flirting with a possible return to MMA, commented precisely on the return of Nick Diaz, one of its biggest rivals, to the sport.

In an interview with the American ESPN, GSP surprised not only by informing that he supports the bad boy, but also by admitting to being a fan of his style, and believes that he can be champion, even without acting for five years.

“I wish the best to Nick Diaz. I love watching him fight. I just hope he comes back as good or even better than he was. I believe he can still be champion. Nick has a crazy style, he moves forward and his game is very underrated,” said GSP.

The Canadian continued to analyze the older Diaz's style and thinks he should have faced Tyron woodley, when he was the number one welterweight. However, against the champion, Kamaru Usman, GSP believes the bad boy would have a hard time.

“When you fight Diaz, you feel claustrophobic. He plays with your mind and is very complete. I think it can still cause problems for many athletes. When Woodley was champion, Nick should have fought him. It would have been a great fight for the fans and he would have had a chance to win because of the style he has. Now, the champion is Usman, who has a different style. I don't know how he will deal with this, but he should try before it's too late and he regrets it. If Diaz feels good, he should fight again,” he concluded.

Georges St-Pierre's last fight in MMA took place in 2017, against Michael Bisping and farewell to Nick Diaz went before Anderson Silva, in 2015. The two have also faced each other for the welterweight belt, in 2013, and the Canadian won the unanimous decision of the judges.
