UFC commentator condemns Adesanya's 'assault' on Borrachinha: 'It was rude and unnecessary'

Unsatisfied with the stance of Israel adesanya after the UFC 253, held on Saturday (26), Paulo borrachinha and Wallid Ismail gained an important ally: Dan Hardy. The current UFC commentator, who was controversial in his fighting days, agrees with the Brazilian duo regarding their stance on the 'sarrada' controversy

To the North American website MMA Junkie, the Englishman thinks that this attitude does not fit with what martial arts preaches and recalled a curious episode also starring the middleweight champion (83,9kg). However, Hardy agrees that when there is a heavy atmosphere like the one seen between the Brazilian and the Nigerian, the worst can happen, as it is difficult to contain tempers.

“It was rude and unnecessary. This is not good for the sport, but at the same time, we see many stars appearing due to controversy. Adesanya urinated in the Octagon on his UFC debut. Despite the criticism regarding Adesanya's obscene gestures, Hardy also praised the middleweight champion and believes that this performance was as incredible as those of Anderson Silva at its peak.

Paulo did the right thing in dosing his energy in the first round, but he made a mistake in leaving Adesanya comfortable and with time to attack, even though he was gassed. I don't think Paulo understood Adesanya's game. When Anderson Silva debuted in the UFC, it was like witchcraft. The opponents simply didn't know what to do. What he did with Leben, Adesanya did with Paulo. They were disconcerting, fantastic performances. I think when you fight Adesanya, you can't really understand what it's like until you're there. And when that time comes, it’s too late”, he concluded.
