The technique won. Israel adesanya ran over Paulo borrachinha and kept the UFC middleweight (up to 83,9kg) belt. In one of the most anticipated fights of the year, held this Saturday (26), on 'Ilha da Luta', in Abu Dhabi, the Nigerian took no notice of the Brazilian and sealed the match with a brutal knockout in the second round.

There was a lot of expectation for the duel between the Brazilian and the Nigerian. Confessed enemies, the athletes had been teasing each other for over a year, which generated excitement for both the fans and the Ultimate management.
With the result, Israel remains the absolute leader of the category and maintains his unbeaten record in his career. Now, the champion has 20 positive results and doesn't know what it's like to lose in MMA.
Considered, by many, as the biggest challenge of Adesanya's career, Borrachinha was unable to impose his game and produced little in the confrontation. The Brazilian now suffers his first setback. The Minas Gerais native was undefeated in 13 fights.
The fight
The fight started with Adesanya taking the initiative with a low kick. The Brazilian tried to find the distance and waited to release his game. The champion launched another sequence of kicks and Paulo responded in kind. Paulo started to loosen up and almost surprised Adesanya with a high kick, but the blow stopped in the Nigerian's guard. Israel continued to focus on low kicks, but the Brazilian provoked his opponent. The Nigerian continued to score more in the fight, with jabs and kicks. In the final minute, the Brazilian tried to press the champion against the bars, but Israel remained focused. The athletes continued to face each other, but there was no more time.
In the second stage, Adesanya continued to focus on low kicks. The champion's actions already showed marks on the challenger's left leg. Borrachinha landed a good direct shot on Israel's face, but the Nigerian responded with a high kick to the Brazilian's head. Paulo continued to have difficulty finding the distance and threw a few blows into the void. Halfway through the round, the champion surprised the Minas Gerais native with a high kick, which he landed squarely. The attack opened a wound on the challenger's face. Israel realized the good moment and continued connecting the best attacks. Close to the middle of the round, the Nigerian champion blitzed the Brazilian, who collapsed after a well-aimed left cross. The Nigerian continued hitting the miner until the referee interrupted the confrontation.
