The famous 'finger in the eye' is a problem that has bothered athletes and people directly linked to MMA for years. The action, often involuntary, can alter the course of a fight and, with this in mind, UFC president, Dana White, admitted that he is looking for an alternative glove that can minimize the problem.

“It's been crazy lately. Tonight (UFC Las Vegas 11), it was really bad, but I don't know what we decided. We are looking at different possibilities. We researched. I don’t know the answer to that, especially now”, said the ‘boss’ in conversation with reporters after last Saturday’s card (19).

The co-main fight of UFC Las Vegas 11, for example, was marked by three infractions committed by Niko Price, in the confrontation against Donald Cerrone. Three times, the American touched the ‘Cowboy’s’ eyes with his fingers, which sometimes impaired his opponent’s vision.

Another notable episode occurred just over a month ago, in the confrontation between Daniel Cormier against Stipe Miocic, UFC 252. At the time, DC ended up being touched a few times by the champion and, after the dispute, one of his eyes was practically closed. The same happened in the second meeting between Cormier and Miocic, in 2019, but, in the other situation, the roles were reversed.
