“Big challenges for big rewards,” wrote Douglas.
This is the second time that Bellator has made the meeting between Lima and Mousasi official. Initially, the combatants would face each other on May 9. The fight, however, did not take place due to the coronavirus pandemic.
While Douglas tries to become another athlete to hold two belts in different divisions, Gegard wants to regain his status as champion. Mousasi was at the top of the category between 2018 and 2019, until losing the title to Lovato.
Lima became welterweight champion after winning the Grand Prix, promoted between 2018 and 2019. In the final, the Brazilian beat Rory McDonald, to whom he had lost the title in January 2018.
Known as 'Phenomenon', Douglas, 32 years old, has a record full of victories. In 39 appearances, the Goiano player won 32 victories and was defeated on seven occasions.
Also experienced, Mousasi, 35, is going for his 56th fight as a professional in MMA. The fighter has 46 triumphs, seven setbacks and two draws. In his last commitment, the combatant overcame Lyoto Machida by points, in Bellator 228.
