Patience is over. Main challenger for the UFC middleweight (up to 83,9kg) title, Paulo borrachinha tired of waiting for the confrontation against the category champion to become official, Israel adesanya, and suggested the creation of an interim belt in the division. In an interview with 'Combate', the miner accused the Nigerian of running away from the confrontation and proposed an alternative to the company.

“If I'm the next title challenger, of course Adesanya doesn't want to fight me. He wants this fight not to happen, he wants to avoid it somehow. This is what we are feeling with these date refusals. It's obvious he's avoiding the fight. It won't be an easy life, he'll lose the belt, the title. He's avoiding it as much as he can. It got to the point where his coach said they'll see who Adesanya will fight. If it's not fear, I don't know what it is. It's about delaying so as not to lose the title. He knows he's going to get the worst fight of his life. I'm the worst fighting marriage he can have in his life. No other fighter will bring as much risk as me”, said the Brazilian.

Undefeated in his career and with a successful trajectory within Ultimate, Borrachinha then suggested an attitude on the part of the company's management. Showing that his focus is not the rivalry against Israel itself, but, in fact, becoming champion for the organization, the Minas Gerais native proposed the creation of an interim belt.

“If you don’t want to fight, that’s okay. The title spot opens up, and I fight someone else for the interim belt, there’s no problem at all,” he said.

Without fighting for almost a year and 100% recovered from a biceps injury, Paulo stated that he intends to perform twice in 2020. In his last performance, Borrachinha led a real war when he won Yoel romero at UFC 241.

“If it happens in September, I want to fight at the end of the year, before Christmas or, perhaps, on December 31st, if the UFC holds an event. I would like to have two fights this year,” he said.

Finally, the Brazilian sent a message to the champion. Confident, Borrachinha asked Adesanya to sign the contract so they can settle the score for a rivalry that has existed for more than a year.

“I want to leave a message for him (Adesanya) to stay calm, it will be quick (laughs). It's to stop running. There's nowhere to run, it's getting ugly. He was already a champion, great, now face reality and let's do this fight soon. He calls, challenges, curses, shows the finger and when it comes to it, he avoids it”, he concluded.
