On a collision course with the Ultimate board, Jorge masvidal refuses to promote a truce with the organization. In order to be better paid by the company, the athlete has refused to sign the contract for his next performance and has not performed since November of last year. On his YouTube channel, 'Jesus das Ruas' commented on the current situation.

“If they don’t want to pay me what I’m worth, that’s okay. I'm safe for life. I don't need to fight. I fight because I love. I've been doing this for almost 17 years. I love acting, but I'm going to get paid every time I do it. Whether it’s facing Nate (Diaz) or anyone else. It doesn't matter. Just pay me what I deserve. Of course, I would love to face Nate, because I didn't put him to sleep the way I wanted to,” said Masvidal.

After he defeated Diaz in the main event of UFC 244, in November 2019, Masvidal's popularity increased considerably after heading up one of the most profitable cards of the last year. After the triumph, 'Jesus das Ruas' became the board's favorite to face the champion, Kamaru Usman, but impasses regarding payment ended up not allowing the contract to be completed.

So far, Jorge remains without an opponent and has seen his chance to fight for the belt in the near future slip through his fingers. The champion will face the Brazilian Gilbert Durinho in July and the title will possibly only be put on the line again in the second half of the year.
