Although they are close to exchanging forces inside the octagon, Francis Ngannou e Jairzinho Rozenstruik found a common topic that goes beyond the rivalry in the UFC. After the Surinamese criticized the lack of rotation of the heavyweight title (up to 120,2 kg), the French-Cameroonian joined the circle and supported the statement of his next opponent, who asked for the creation of an interim belt.

“Observing the situation, this is what should happen (creation of the interim belt). My manager and I gave the idea to the UFC, but they weren't excited about it. But, if you look at the fact, in August it will be one year since the last heavyweight title fight”, said Francis in an interview with 'MMA Junkie'.

Currently, Ultimate is working on the possibility of holding a trilogy between the current champion, Stipe Miocic, and his last opponent, Daniel Cormier, whom he defeated last year. Negotiations between the athletes were complicated, due to the number one's interest in doing other challenges. Now, with the coronavirus pandemic, it is not known when athletes will be able to be put back in the octagon.

“Until now, we don’t know when the new fight for the heavyweight title will be. At some point we will have to move on. Let's say the fight (against Jairzinho) takes place on May 9th. Then, what happens? What happens to the heavyweight category? They have to take some action, like creating an interim belt,” explained Ngannou.

Francis also clarified that his concern directly involves his future within the category. Considered one of the most dangerous athletes in the organization, the fighter, if he defeats Rozenstruik, will probably be left without opponents who can present a real 'value for money'.

“We want to know what will happen with the division. It's part of my frustration now. After this fight, if I win, what will happen next? I'll sit there waiting for the next move. It's a dark spot right now. I would like the UFC to clarify the matter better”, he concluded.
