The wait is over. Paulo borrachinha is cleared to return to training after undergoing a recovery process from biceps surgery. The procedure ended up postponing the Brazilian's dream of fighting for the middleweight belt (up to 83,9kg), but, ready to return to the sport, the Minas Gerais native made a point of suggesting a date to resume his career in MMA. The statement was made in an interview with 'Combate'.

“The recovery is over. I've already done everything that needed to be done, I've gone through all the steps. It's been eight months and now I'm ready to start camp next week. I received the release last week. I came to Los Angeles (USA) for the doctor to release me because he was the one who performed the surgery. I made a point of coming. It was hard and difficult work, in total it took eight months, and now I can train normally, without limitations. I can start training camp and fight in two or three months,” said the Brazilian.

Borrachinha then took the opportunity to say when he would like to compete for the middleweight belt.

“If you ask me for a date, I would suggest July 11th, during 'International Fight Week'. It was the date that Dana White suggested too. It would be a good date”, he suggested.

Paulo, however, will have to wait for the clash between Israel adesanya e Yoel romero, who will exchange forces this Saturday (7) in the Nigerian's first title defense. The Minas Gerais player's desire will depend on the recovery time of the winner of this weekend's clash.

Borrachinha, who has already confirmed his presence on this weekend's card to watch the clash between the Cuban and the Nigerian, wanted to give his opinion on who will win the title clash. Responsible for Romero's last defeat, the Brazilian bet on his former rival's triumph over the current champion.

“I think Romero has a better chance of winning, especially in the first three rounds. He will be much stronger, explosive and more resilient. From the fourth or fifth onwards, Romero may get tired, because he is stronger, older, and needs to balance more. I think Romero has more weapons to win”, he concluded.

Recently, Ultimate's president, Dana White, confirmed that Paulo will be the next challenger for the category title. This way, Brazilians will watch the main fight of the UFC 248.
