Kamaru Usman expects another fight against Colby Covington in the future: 'It was fun'

The welterweight champion does not rule out a repeat of the battle that took place at UFC 245 and cites fans and the media to maintain the idea

Welterweights (up to 77kg.), Kamaru Usman e Colby covington, were responsible for one of the most exciting fights of 2019. In UFC 245, in December, the athletes took their rivalry to the octagon and exchanged forces in a balanced and exciting duel. With the title maintained, the champion stated that he would like to repeat the confrontation in the future. The statement was made in an interview with 'MMA Fighting'.

“I hope it happens again because it was a fun fight. Not just for me, but I think the media, the fans, everyone thought it was fun,” Usman said.

In the confrontation, after several provocations from both sides, Kamaru showed the reason for holding the belt, fulfilled his promise and guaranteed his title defense after a knockout at the end of the fifth round.

The result generated controversy from Colby, who accused referee Marc Goddard of having directly influenced his defeat. With this, Covington continues to demand from Ultimate that he be given the opportunity for a rematch, however, the organization's plans are to hold a confrontation between the champion and Jorge masvidal on a card that will take place during 'International Fight Week', in July, in the United States.
