The light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg.) of Ultimate, Jon Jones, needs no comments when it comes to its technical quality. Considered by many to be the best MMA athlete of all time, the fighter celebrates his good phase in life after leaving behind controversies that threatened his career as a fighter. Close to carrying out another belt defense, which takes place this Saturday (8), at UFC 247, the athlete, in an interview with 'ESPN' reporter, Ariel Helwani, spoke about his new phase.

“I feel as if the storm is behind us. It's been an interesting journey and I've learned a lot. I'm just grateful. I'm grateful to have had all the lessons I could learn. I'm grateful that God has kept me through it all and allowed me to grow so much through it all. Yes, I think my best days are still ahead of me. I feel like I'm in a good place right now about what it means to be a father, a professional athlete and a person with great responsibility, and I'm excited about it and I feel like I'm hitting the ground running,” said 'Bones'.

In recent years, the athlete has faced accusations of doping, problems with the police and was even arrested. The fighter was stripped of his position as company champion and was unable to act professionally for more than a year.

Jones, however, made a triumphant return. The fighter regained his title in December 2018, when he was scheduled to face Alexander Gustafson. Since then, the North American has made two title defenses and is ready to make a third, when he faces the undefeated Dominick reyes in this weekend.

But I feel like I'm on a great path and I'm excited to continue to elevate myself and be the best person I can be and try to help as many people as I can.
