"Demetrious Johnson will challenge the ONE flyweight world champion, Adriano Moraes, for the belt on April 11, in China”, wrote Chatri on his Twitter account.
Known as the best flyweight in the history of Ultimate, Demetrious worked in the UFC between 2011 and 2018. In the company, the athlete won the category belt in 2012, when he defeated Joseph Benavidez in the final of the tournament that would promote the company's first division champion.
At the end of 2018, after 11 title defenses, the athlete ended up defeated by Henry Cejudo and ended up moving to ONE in a trade that brought Ben Askren to Ultimate. The North American debuted for the new organization in February last year. For his 'new home', the fighter has already had three fights, participating in the Grand Prix and emerging champion by triumphing in all phases.
The title gave the athlete the opportunity to challenge Adriano, who has held the belt since winning the rematch against Geje Eustáquio, in January last year. ‘Mikinho’ has been an employee of ONE since 2013 and has worked for the company on 12 occasions. In total, the 30-year-old Brazilian has nine wins and three defeats since debuting in the organization.
In his professional career, Moraes had 21 clashes, with 18 triumphs and only three setbacks.
Demetrious, in turn, has 33 appearances as a professional in MMA. The North American has already won on 30 occasions and lost on three.
