Known as the best flyweight in the history of Ultimate, Demetrious worked in the UFC between 2011 and 2018. In the company, the athlete won the category belt in 2012, when he defeated Joseph Benavidez in the final of the tournament that would promote the company's first division champion.

At the end of 2018, after 11 title defenses, the athlete ended up defeated by Henry Cejudo and ended up moving to ONE in a trade that brought Ben Askren to Ultimate. The North American debuted for the new organization in February last year.
