Twice challenging for a UFC belt, once at middleweight (up to 83,9kg) and once in his current category, the athlete jumped four positions and pushed his rival to 13th place.

The duel against Maia, for Askren, should serve as a new beginning in his Ultimate career. The North American, hired as a candidate to occupy the position of champion in the future, aimed to erase the defeat suffered by Jorge masvidal No. UFC 239, when he was knocked out in just five seconds of battle.

Demian's name seemed perfect, as the Brazilian was not at the top of the category, but, even so, he continues to be a name of respect within the organization. The outcome of the confrontation, however, went beyond Ben's plans. The athlete ended up succumbing to the Brazilian's excellent jiu-jitsu and was submitted in the third round of combat.

For his next challenge, Demian preferred to choose a name that is outside the raking, but that represents the athlete's personal desire. Maia invited the veteran Diego Sanchez to exchange forces and was promptly responded positively by the rival.

With 22 victories in the sport, the São Paulo native is the second athlete with the most victories for the company, behind only Donald Cerrone, with 23. The fighter only has two more fights left on his contract and has already admitted his desire to retire after fulfilling his commitment.
