The stars may have aligned and Khamzat Shimaev he may finally have his next opponent announced soon. Hungry for combat, the Swede was challenged by the dangerous Leon Edwards and didn't think twice about responding to the Englishman's proposal.
See too
“I'm always ready to fight. Let's do it”, wrote the Swede on his Twitter account.
Debuting in Ultimate in July, Khamzat needed just three appearances to win favor with fans and the company's management. Famous for always being willing to perform, the fighter is now eagerly seeking his fourth commitment in less than six months.
While Chimaev is excited about the challenge of one of the most important names in the welterweight division (up to 77kg), Edwards is trying to regain his prestige with the organization. Recently, the athlete was surprised by the news that was removed from the group ranking due to inactivity. Leon hasn't fought in over a year.
UFC president Dana White said in an interview with 'BT.Sports', who was negotiating an important confrontation for Edwards. The encounter with the new sensation, then, could be the clash that the 'boss' was looking for.
While the Englishman has won eight consecutive victories and hasn't lost since 2015, Chimaev, in nine appearances as a professional in MMA, doesn't know what it's like to taste defeat.
I'm always ready to fight. Let's go. Rock'n'roll baby 🤪
