With the promise of a belt, Jacaré agrees to face Jack Hermansson at UFC Fort Lauderdale

After several changes last week, the main fight of the UFC Fort Lauderdale is defined. The Brazilian Ronaldo Jacare agreed to face the Swede Jack hermansson in the attraction that takes place on April 27th, in Florida (USA). The information was released by ESPN in the USA.

According to the report, Jacaré, who occupies third place in the middleweight rankings (up to 84 kg.), only agreed to face Hermansson, 10th in the rankings, because the UFC committed to guaranteeing a chance for the belt, in case of victory.

The 39-year-old Brazilian has a professional record of 26 wins, six losses and one fight without result (No Contest). In his last fight, at UFC 230 in November 2018, he knocked out former champion Chris Weidman in the third round.

In turn, Hermansson has a record of 19 wins and four losses. The 30-year-old Swede has three consecutive victories in Ultimate. In his last fight, he submitted David Branch with a guillotine in the UFC Philadelphia, on the last day 30.

Understand the mess

The UFC Fort Lauderdale main event has been a big problem for the organization. Initially, the dispute would be between Yoel romero e Paulo borrachinha. However, the Cuban suffered an injury during a TV program and his participation was threatened. The event then called Ronaldo Jacare for the 100% Brazilian duel, but the black belt refused to face his compatriot, as he was lower in ranking.

Romero recovered from his injury, but, on the other hand, Borrachinha would have been caught in an anti-doping test change – not officially confirmed by the UFC or the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) – So, the show appealed, again Jacaré, who agreed to face the Cuban in a long-awaited rematch.

However, to further complicate the situation, Yoel was diagnosed with pneumonia and forced to leave the contest. Jacaré threatened to leave the show, but only continued the dispute because he was guaranteed a title shot.
