the retirement of Conor McGregor seems to have lasted a short time. Just nine days after announcing his retirement from MMA, the Irishman appears to have backtracked by publishing, last Wednesday night (3), a statement challenging the lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov. The two exchanged insults through their Twitter accounts.

In his publication, Conor seems to try to make amends for his mistakes in disrespecting Khabib's religion, citing the importance of faith for each person.
“I want to move forward with my fans of all religions and all backgrounds. All beliefs challenge us to be our best selves. It's a world for everyone. See you in the Octagon,” wrote Conor.
I want to move forward, with my fans of all faiths and all backgrounds.
All faiths challenge us to be our best selves.
It is one world and one for all ❤

The last sentence, however, sounded like a challenge to Khabib, with whom the Irishman created a rivalry that went beyond the limits of sport. In the last discussion, Conor wrote ironically about the Russian's wife and religion. Nurmagomedov responded hours later, calling McGregor a 'rapist', referencing a lawsuit filed against the fighter in which he is accused of sexual harassment.
Conor McGregor e Khabib Nurmagomedov They faced each other in October last year in a fight for the lightweight title. The Russian emerged victorious and, shortly after the fight, caused a huge commotion by jumping over the Octagon fence and trying to attack one of the Irishman's coaches, further increasing the rivalry between the two.
A likely fight between the two, however, may not happen this year, as Khabib is negotiating to fight in September, at UFC Abu Dhabi, and has publicly declared his desire to face the winner of the fight between Max Holloway e Dustin poirier, which takes place next week.
