the return of Conor McGregor to the octagon was expected to take place in front of Donald Cerrone, in July. However, according to the North American fighter, the fight didn't get off the ground because the Irishman would only accept the duel if they made the main fight of the attraction on PPV. However, conditions may have changed after an audacious request from the former featherweight (up to 56,7 kg) and lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) champion.

McGregor revealed that he accepts to return to compete in any fight on the card, even in an attraction outside the PPV, but as long as he becomes a UFC partner.

“I already said it, there’s no problem. If the UFC wants me to come down to the co-main event and help, no problem. But if they want me to do this, give me my rightful shares in the company. That’s all I ask,” said McGregor in an interview with the website BJPenn.com

The Irishman even offered to fight on the preliminary card, if his wishes were met. “You can put me in the first fight on ESPN+ (the channel that shows the US preliminary card), no problem”, he added.

McGregor has been pushing for a UFC appearance since becoming the promotion's first two-division champion simultaneously. The night he won the lightweight title, McGregor began asking for shares in the company. He stated that with the purchase of UFC by WME-IMG, several celebrities became minority partners in the company without doing as much for its success as he did.

After his fight with Floyd Mayweather, McGregor once again lobbied for the purchase of UFC shares as a condition of signing a new contract.

Although the UFC did not grant participation to the Irishman, the event renewed his contract – the biggest in the promotion's history – and carried out several joint actions with McGregor, such as the launch of the 'Proper No. 12' whiskey brand.
