Rich Franklin hopes for a new rematch against Anderson Silva

Back in the middleweight category, after a quick stint in the light heavyweight division, Rich Franklin is already thinking about regaining the UFC belt.

The American, who was middleweight champion until 2006, lost his title in the category when he was knocked out by Anderson Silva at UFC 64. After that, Franklin got a rematch at UFC 77, in 2007, and was once again defeated by the Brazilian.

After the second setback to Anderson, Rich left the middleweight division and did not have much success within the organization again.

Now, back at middleweight, Franklin is already dreaming of a possible reunion with Anderson Silva, and thinks about avenging the two defeats suffered by the current champion.

“If I can start a new run for the belt and the UFC wants another fight with Anderson, I would like to,” said Franklin, in an interview with the MMA Canada website.

Rich returns to the UFC, after more than a year of inactivity, against the Vietnamese Cung le, at UFC 148, and is betting his chips on himself in a possible trilogy against Spider.

“I believe, because of the champion mentality I have, that, if I have another chance, I can win this fight (against Anderson)”, he concluded.
