On the eve of UFC London, Darren Till claims he is 'the best fighter in the world'

English lost his unbeaten record in September 2018, when he was defeated by Tyron Woodley at UFC 228. However, he guarantees: 'I don't think the defeat changes anything'

Darren till suffered his first career defeat against Tyron woodley at UFC 228, in September 2018, but he didn’t lose his confidence. The Englishman, who returns to Ultimate this Saturday (16), in the main fight of UFC London, stated that despite the recent setback he is still 'the best fighter in the world'.

“I still believe I’m the best fighter in the world. There were many great fighters in the world who lost too and achieved a lot. I don't think defeat changes anything. You have to evolve from it. It’s important to evolve every day in training, with each defeat or victory you have to evolve”, said Till in an interview with the Combate channel website.

Till, who stares Jorge masvidal in the attraction, he bets on his ability to defeat the North American. Despite having a greater reach than his opponent, the Englishman points to his technique as the main weapon to leave the Octagon victorious.

“People might say that my size makes a difference, but I like knowing that I'm going to win a fight because of my technique. I'm not the strongest guy, but I want to be known as one of the most skilled. I don't think they call it martial arts by chance: whoever is more skilled wins. That’s my goal,” said Darren.

With an eye on a new title shot, Till talks about the situation in the welterweight division after the debut of Ben Askren and the new champion of the category Kamaru Usman.

“The welterweight division is very competitive. There's a new guy, Ben, guys close to the top 10... It changes emotionally to have a new champion now, there's a target on his back. I think there's one on my back too. Everyone speaks good things about me, but he's the new champion and I have to catch up to him. And I'm close, I'm number 3 in the ranking”, concluded the Englishman.

At 26, Darren till He has 19 fights in his career as a professional fighter. The Englishman debuted in Ultimate in May 2015, when he beat Wendell de Oliveira Marques by knockout in the second round. Since then, he has won five wins, one draw and only lost the title match against Tyron woodley
