the rise of Serginho Moraes in the welterweight division (up to 77 kg.) was interrupted this Saturday (09). The Brazilian, who had two victories in a row, and had only lost to the category champion Kamaru Usman, suffered the second setback against Anthony Rocco Martin in the unanimous decision of the judges (30-27, 30-27, 30-27). The clash closed the preliminary card of the UFC Wichita, held in the state of Kansas (USA).

With the triumph, Rocco Martin reaches his 16th victory as a professional, the fourth in a row. He also has four defeats. Already Serginho Moraes, suffered the fourth defeat in 19 appearances.
The fight
The fight couldn't have started better for Serginho. In the first few moves, he connected with a good right punch, grabbed Martin's leg and got the takedown. However, the multi-time jiu-jitsu world champion was unable to adapt his game to the ground. When the Brazilian tried to get a choke, Rocco Martin reversed and came out on top. Even from below, Moraes still held the guillotine. But the North American stopped the fight and the referee put the fight back on its feet.
From this moment on, Martin took control of the fight. He showed good lateral movement to dodge the Brazilian's attacks and connect with good counterattacks.
In the second round, the North American was even better. Martin kicked the Brazilian's base, dodged all of Serginho's attacks and still scored points in the encounter attacks. The Brazilian still had his chances in the final seconds, when he unbalanced his rival and ended the partial on his back. But no time to work
In the third round, the Brazilian tried to close the gap. He walked forward throwing punches, but Martin dodged all the attacks. With 40 seconds left, Serginho still managed the takedown and fell with his guard passed. Moraes still arrived on mount and attacked the neck, but the bell saved the North American, who took the fight by decision of the judges.
