Kamaru Usman won Tyron woodley by unanimous decision and won the welterweight belt in the co-main event of UFC 235. Despite his lackluster performance, ‘The Chosen One’ asked for an immediate rematch against the Nigerian. However, Ultimate's president, Dana White, has other plans for the category's next title fight.

In an interview with the organization's YouTube channel, White pointed out Colby covington as the next challenger for the welterweight title. ‘Chaos’ should be Usman’s next rival for the belt, if he accepts the fight.

PUBLICITY:

'Yes him [Colby covington] will be next. As long as he accepts and shows up to fight, he will be next’, said White.

When analyzing the confrontation between Usman and Woodley, he praised the performance of the new welterweight champion.

PUBLICITY:

“Colby turned down that fight, so Usman came in and had an incredible performance against RDA (Rafael dos Anjos). […] The type of fight he had tonight doesn't always please the public, but if you look at what he did with Tyron woodley, it was absolutely a beating. And it was a great performance”, concluded Dana.

Covington hasn't fought since last June at UFC 225, when he won Rafael dos Anjos by unanimous decision and won the interim welterweight belt. However, the North American has six victories in the organization. His last defeat was to Warlley alves at UFC 194 in December 2015. Colby is in second place in the category rankings.

PUBLICITY:

The new welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman remains undefeated after 10 fights in Ultimate. His debut was in July 2015 at TUF 21 Finale, when he submitted Hayder Hassan in the second round. Since then he has beaten athletes like Rafael dos Anjos, Demian Maia e Tyron woodley. The ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ is the first Ultimate champion on the African continent.
