Another chapter in the rivalry between Brazil and Argentina must be written outside the football fields and inside the Ultimate octagon. Rafael dos Anjos e Santiago Ponzinibbio suggested a fight in the UFC 237, May 11th, in Curitiba. However, Ultimate did not schedule a meeting between the welterweights. In an interview with the Ag. Fight website, the Argentine 'Gente Boa' asked to confirm the duel.

The Argentine's last fight was at UFC Buenos Aires in November last year. The owner of the house won Neil Magny by knockout. Since then, Ponzinibbio has been provoking the Brazilian to accept a confrontation. Rafael accepted the fight with 'Gente Boa' in January of this year. Despite the two fighters agreeing to the duel, Santiago doesn't know why Ultimate hasn't agreed on the meeting yet.
“I don't know if the UFC doesn't want to do the fight, or if Rafael said he accepted, but he didn't, you know? I would really like this fight to get off the ground, I would think it would be cool. I hope it comes out! I'm here training and ready for the next fight. O Rafael Dos Anjos He's the only guy in the rankings who doesn't have a fight. Then, the rest, everyone in the rankings already has a fight. So even for that reason, I would say that the fight makes sense. Number 5 against number 7 (in the ranking) makes perfect sense”, concluded Ponzinibbio.
Santiago has won seven in a row and occupies seventh place in the Ultimate welterweight rankings. Meanwhile, Rafael comes from two defeats to Colby covington e Kamaru Usman in 2018. The Brazilian is in fifth place on the category list.
