Accused of murder, MMA fighter is captured in a trash can in the USA

Cedric Marks escaped from the vehicle that was transporting him from one prison to another in the state of Texas and in a search of the city, local police found him hiding among trash cans.

Accused of three murders, MMA fighter Cedric Marks managed to escape from the vehicle that was transporting him from one prison to another in Conroe (Texas) on Sunday (03). He remained at large for nine hours until he was found by Montgomery County police officers hiding among trash cans. After being captured, Joseph was taken back to jail.

Through the official Facebook page, the Montgomery County Police Department said that the fighter escaped when the guards stopped to eat at a fast-food chain in the city of Conroe.

“At 7:20 in the morning, the Conroe Police Department received a call that a prisoner had escaped (…). 'Texas Prisoner Transport Services' was transporting a group of prisoners from various locations across the country. There were two guards and ten prisoners aboard the van when they stopped at McDonald's looking for food. Cedric Joseph Marks managed to escape from the van and fled south of the scene. A perimeter was created and a search conducted using police dogs and backup from multiple agencies. After an extensive search for the dogs and the emergence of new security camera video, police regrouped and set up a search perimeter from the original location. The suspect was located (…) in a trash can. The suspect surrendered without further problems, and is in custody and being questioned. At this time, the circumstances of Marks' escape are still under investigation,” they wrote on the page.

Marks' girlfriend and an acquaintance of hers disappeared and their bodies were found on January 15 in Oklahoma. The fighter was considered a suspect in the crime. Cedric is also accused of killing another ex-girlfriend, April Pease who disappeared in 2009 and was never found.

At 44 years old, Marks has 60 fights in his career, including 31 triumphs, 27 setbacks and one unsuccessful fight. In his last fight, the American was defeated by Edmilson Freitas in March 2018.
