UFC Brooklyn: Vinicius Mamute and Ariane Lipski lose on the preliminary card

The year 2019 started with a bitter taste for Brazilian fighters. With two representatives on the preliminary card of UFC Brooklyn, an event held this Saturday (19), in New York (USA), the country left the fight area with two defeats.

Com nome polonês, mas nascida em Curitiba, Ariane Lipski sofreu em sua estreia no octógono. A paranaense não conseguiu impor seu jogo em pé contra a escocesa Joanne calderwood and ended up being defeated by the judges' unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 30-26).

In the first round of the dispute, Ariane tried to put on the pressure that made her become known as 'The Queen of Violence'. She even landed good blows on Calderwood, but the Scot took advantage of one of these attacks to take the Brazilian to the ground. On top, Joanne dominated her rival. She was on top and attacked with a rear naked choke in three attempts, but Lipski defended all of her attempts. In the final seconds, the Scot still attacked her arm, but, again, Ariane managed to defend herself.

Shaken by the fall in the previous round, Ariane returned to the second round without the same momentum. The Brazilian tried to combine punches and kicks, but didn't have the distance to hit her rival. In turn, Calderwood responded in kind. The two exchanged blows, and the Scottish woman was dangerous when she got close. In the final minute, Joanne tried to take him down, but without success. Even so, she finished the round by pressing on the fence to score points.

Com a luta quase ‘perdida’, na decisão, Ariane voltou para o terceiro round precisando nocautear ou finalizar. No início da parcial, a brasileira conseguiu acertar alguns golpes, mas teve seu melhor momento quando derrubou Calderwood. Ela já caiu com a guarda passada. Porém, ao tentar chegar a montada, a escocesa repôs a guarda e começou a atacar mesmo por baixo. Joanne tentou o triângulo duas vezes e uma chave de braço, mas a brasileira, mais uma vez, conseguiu escapar. Apesar de terminar o combate por cima, Ariane Lipski não conseguiu atacar e acabou superada na decisão;

The first Brazilian to enter the Octagon in 2019, Vinicius Mamute did not have the debut he expected in the UFC. Revealed by Contender Series Brasil, a show that sought new talent in the country in 2018, the Brasilia native suffered his second defeat as a professional with a hard knockout at 3m56s of the fight.

Right at the beginning of the duel, North American Alonzo Menfield showed all his weapons in the stand-up fight and connected a bomb against Mamute. The Brazilian fell to the ground, but managed to recover, climbed over his rival and managed to stay on his feet.

With morale from the overwhelming start, Menfield stopped all of Mamute's attacks and with a hard cross he once again took down the Brazilian. On top, the North American struck a few more times until the referee interrupted the dispute and declared a technical knockout.
