After more than a year away Jon Jones returned to Ultimate, knocked out Alexander Gustafson and regained the light heavyweight belt at UFC 232 in December 2018. Even so, the fighter does not stop his rivalry with Daniel Cormier aside and continues to instigate his arch-rival to accept the third duel. In an interview with the North American program The MMA Hour, Luke Rockhold challenged 'Bones' to move up a division and face 'DC' in the heavyweight division.

“Are you the baddest guy in the world? Stop picking guys like Anthony Smith and stop talking about DC, the double champion. Move up a division and fight the champion where he is and where he is the baddest man on the planet. Do you want to say something? Go up and fight him, or stay where you are and I'll come to you”, said Rockhold.
DC's training partner believes Jones is trying to 'manipulate' Cormier into returning to light heavyweight to face him. Since Bones would not be interested in moving up a category because he would not have any advantage.
“Jones doesn't want to fight 'DC' at heavyweight. He doesn't want to give you any advantage. He's obviously doing what he can to build his confidence to fight at light heavyweight. We all know he has tested for doping twice in a row. XNUMX times? I don't know what it is, picograms, or what the hell they are. He's obviously compensating by trying to do something to strengthen himself', said the former middleweight champion.
For Rockhold, Cormier is a better fighter in the heavyweight division. What was proven when he dethroned the former category champion, Stipe Miocic with a knockout in July and a submission over Derrick Lewis at UFC 230.
“DC at heavyweight is a much more dangerous fighter. He's looser. I saw him at the gym”, concluded Luke.
