Rich Franklin considers fighting at light heavyweight

Former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin is considering the possibility of moving up a division and fighting in the UFC light heavyweight division.

Franklin, who has already fought under 93kg in Japan and even in the UFC itself, when he knocked out Ken Shamrock in the TUF-1 final, in 2005. According to his manager Monte Cox, another reason for changing categories is the possibility of combining fights, since that Rich faced practically all athletes at this weight.

“Rich has to make a decision. We will certainly consider fighting at light heavyweight and everything he has done in this division. He has fought almost all athletes under 84kg, there are some guys he could fight, but if he wins it wouldn't put him in line for the title. And no one's looking to see Rich and Anderson Silva 3 right now, including me. He's not helping in the 84kg division right now because he beat everyone there. We talked about moving up to light heavyweight and seeing how he would perform against guys like Forrest griffin or a Keith Jardine”, said the businessman.
