Junior Gypsy will put the heavyweight belt on the line against alistair overeem at UFC 146, an event that takes place on May 26, in Las Vegas, in the United States. And if the Brazilian beats the Dutch fighter, he will already receive who his next opponent will be. This is because Ultimate announced, on Wednesday night, that North Americans Frank mir e Cain Velazquez will compete in the same event, and the winner of the confrontation will be the next challenger for the organization's title.
With a record of 16 wins and five losses, Frank mir tries to regain the UFC belt, a title he has already owned on two occasions, once as interim champion. The 32-year-old North American is on a streak of three consecutive victories, the last being an incredible submission against the Brazilian Rodrigo Minotauro at UFC 140, held in December 2011.
Velasquez, who has a professional record of nine wins and just one loss, also wants the chance to regain the Ultimate title and also have a rematch against junior gypsy, the only athlete to defeat him. Cain is coming off the setback against the Brazilian, when he was knocked out in the first round of UFC on Fox, held in November last year.
In addition to defining the future of the heavyweight division, UFC 146 also features junior gypsy, with five more Brazilians in action: Edson Barboza face Evan dunham, Antonio Pezão debut in the organization against Roy Nelson, Diego Brandao faces Darren Elkins, Gabriel Napao will face Shane del Rosario and Glover Teixeira will face off against Kyle Kingsbury
