The Brazilian UFC fighter, Polyana viana responded to a robbery on Saturday night (04) in Jacarepaguá in Rio de Janeiro. The athlete was waiting for an Uber car outside her condominium when she was approached by the man who tried to steal her cell phone. In an interview with the North American website MMA Junkie, the 'Iron Lady' stated that when she realized that the weapon was fake, she threw two punches and one kick. The bandit fell with the blows and she secured a rear-naked choke that prevented him from escaping.

“When he saw that I had noticed his presence, he was very close to me. He asked me the time. I said, but saw he didn't leave. So I put the cell phone on my waist. Then he said to me: 'Give me your cell phone. Don't try to react, I'm armed'. He put his hand on what looked like a gun, but I realized it was pliable. He was very close to me. That's when I thought: if it's a gun, he won't have time to pull it out. And I threw two punches and one kick. He fell and I stopped him with a rear naked choke,” said Polyana.
According to the fighter, the assailant was scared by her reaction and asked to let him go. However, Polyana waited until the police arrived to hand him over. The 'Iron Lady' also said that the 'weapon' used in the attempted robbery was made of cardboard.
UFC president Dana White posted on his social media that it is a bad idea to try to rob an Ultimate fighter. “On the left is @polyanaviana, one of our UFC fighters and on the right is the guy who tried to rob her,” he wrote.

Polyana viana debuted in Ultimate in February 2018, when she beat Maia Kahaunaele-Stevenson at UFC Belém. In her last commitment, she lost to JJ Aldrich by unanimous decision at UFC 227. The 'Iron Lady' has 12 fights in her career, with 10 wins and two losses.
