“I talked to Dana White a few days ago and he was talking to me about fighting Lesnar, Jon Jones and everything, and I said, 'If Lesnar isn't going to fight, Stipe is first in line.' I've been saying from the beginning that he deserves it. If it's not against Brock, I want to fight Stipe and give him what he's entitled to, which is a rematch for the belt. He will lose again, but at least he will have a chance to fight for the title once again,” said Cormier.

At 40 years old, Cormier stated that he feels capable of continuing to fight professionally, but injuries have been 'holding him back' lately. The heavyweight champion also assured that his retirement in 2019 was a personal decision.

“I always wanted to retire from fighting when I turned 40, and I've had some injury problems that have been holding me back lately. I would prefer to be in a position to train and fight, but these problems prevent me from doing things the way I would like. That's why all the questions are still up in the air. Dana is hopeful, he keeps telling me that I can fight three more times, that I'm the man. And honestly, I could fight. I don't feel like I'm slowing down. I just became heavyweight champion. I don't think I'm stopping... Let's see how things play out. I still plan to retire soon. It's a personal decision I made with my family. Let’s see…”, concluded Daniel.
