Chad Mendes was knocked out by Alex Volkanovski at 4:14 of the second round at UFC 232. The setback at the event in Inglewood (USA), last Saturday (29), was the only one in the North American's career. At the end of the show, journalist Farah Hannoun confirmed the athlete's retirement from Team Alpha Male.
In 10 years in professional MMA, 'Money' challenged for the featherweight belt on three occasions, but lost to José Aldo (twice) and Conor McGregor.
“I can confirm that Chad Mendes he actually decided to retire. Very surprised to hear that. He's still a top-level fighter. All the best to Chad in his future endeavors. 'Aldo x Mendes 2' is one of my all-time fights. He has been part of some great moments in this sport,” Hannoun posted.

Mendes received a two-year suspension after testing positive for GH – growth hormone used for hypertrophy and muscle definition – in a test outside the competition period, on May 17, 2016. Chad returned to the Octagon in July of this year and knocked out Myles Jury in the first round. With the triumph 'Money' was in fifth place in the featherweight category.
Mendes ends his time in mixed martial arts after 10 years. He has 23 fights in his career, 18 victories and five defeats.
