On the eve of UFC 232, Jon Jones was caught in an anti-doping test using the steroid turinabol. According to the United States Anti-Doping Agency, the substance found in the fighter's body in a test carried out in early December would be a remnant of the doping used in 2017, before his second fight with Daniel Cormier.

Via social media, Cormier called USADA, Ultimate's vice president of athlete health and performance, Jeff Novitzky, and California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) executive director Andy Foster a 'joke'.
The heavyweight champion stated that it is a joke 'a pinch of turinabol in an Olympic swimming pool' to continue after 18 months of the doping case.
“USADA = Joke
Jeff Novitzky = Joke
Andy Foster = Joke
A dash of turinabol in an Olympic swimming pool that stays in your system for 18 months = Joke
NSAC, you guys are cool”, posted 'DC' on his Twitter.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission was unharmed by Cormier's comments, as it denied permission for Jones to fight in Las Vegas. The denial to Ultimate occurred because the entity claimed that it would not have enough time to investigate the results of the exams until December 29th.
Thus, the organization moved the show from Las Vegas to Inglewood, California (USA). The state commission had already cleared Jones to fight again.
