Gegard Mousasi was scheduled to defend the middleweight belt for the second time at Bellator 214 on the show that takes place in Inglewood (USA), on January 26th. The division champion would face Rafael Lovato Jr. in the co-main event. However, 'Dreamcatcher' suffered an injury and was withdrawn due to confrontation. There were 45 wins, two draws and six defeats. Gegard made his Bellator debut in October 2017. He beat Alexander Shlemenko via judges' decision. In his second confrontation, the fighter knocked out the champion Raphael Carvalho and won the middleweight belt. His first title defense was in September this year against Rory McDonald. 'Dreamcatcher' was superior and knocked out his rival in the second round.
Bellator has not yet officially commented on the champion's injury and will find a replacement to face the Brazilian. The 214th edition event will feature in the main fight the final of the franchise's heavyweight GP between Fedor Emelianenko e Ryan bader.
