Kamaru Usman dominated the five rounds and won Rafael dos Anjos by unanimous decision in the main fight of the TUF 28 Finale. After the show in Las Vegas, the ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ reportedly received an offer from Ultimate. According to the second placed in the welterweight rankings, the organization would have offered him a duel with Colby covington in January 2019.

However, the offer for a confrontation with the interim champion of the category is not new. In an interview with the North American channel TMZ Sports, Usman said that it is the fifth time that the UFC has offered him the fight and has accepted all meetings with ‘Chaos’.

“I'm going to knock you out Colby covington. This is the fight now. The UFC just called and they offered us the fight. They said 'Colby covington in January’, and you know what I’m going to do. Of course I accepted. For the fifth time, I accepted the fight. Now we are just waiting for him,” Usman revealed.

Covington is still waiting for the confrontation with Tyron woodley to unify the welterweight belt. However, ‘Chose One’ has not yet been cleared by doctors to fight following surgery on his right hand. This way, Colby can put the interim belt up for grabs against the ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ before facing his former teammate.

Usman has spoken numerous times about his desire to face Covington inside the octagon and even challenged him a few times. For Karamu, the duel with the loud-mouthed North American goes beyond professional advancement.

“There comes a time in our careers where we get that guy who makes your blood boil, really brings out the real savage in you. I have to reach it, I have! I have to bless this guy with my hands. I have to bless him. It will be a bitter taste in my mouth to win the belt, defend it several times and then retire knowing that I didn't get my hands on this guy”, concluded Kamaru.

The duel between the welterweights could take place at the first event of 2019 in Brooklyn on January 19th, and at UFC 233 in Anaheim, on the 26th.
