Ronaldo Jacare knocked out Chris Weidman in the co-main event of UFC 230 at Madison Square Garden, November 03rd. The triumph over 'All-American' guaranteed the Brazilian as the next challenger for the title. However, the middleweight champion Robert whittaker is scheduled to face Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 234 in February 2019. In an interview with the North American website MMA Fighting, the man from Manaus assured that being a reserve for the fight is not an option.

In 2016 at UFC 205, the Brazilian was the reserve for the clash between Weidman and Yoel romero. With that in mind, Ronaldo stated that he is not interested in going through the entire weight loss and training process to stay out of the octagon.
The clash between Whittaker and Gastelum for the middleweight title will take place at UFC 234, in Australia, on February 9th. If he is not injured, the champion will have a few months of rest and training until a new duel. Even so, Jacaré stated that he is calm and will wait for the winner of the clash in Melbourne.
“I made a lot of money this year. I fought three times, got three bonuses. I have a performance bonus and two fights of the night, I knocked down my last opponent. I made a lot of money, I can go without fighting for some time”, explained Ronaldo.
Ronaldo Jacare He has 32 fights in his career, 26 triumphs and six setbacks. On 14 occasions, the Brazilian ended the fights with a submission. The former Strikeforce middleweight champion is coming off a knockout victory over Weidman at UFC 230.
