Pantoja challenges Benavidez and offers to be booked at TUF 28 Finale

The flyweight made himself available to face Joseph on November 30th, in case Alex Perez has any problems

Alexandre pantoja needed just over two minutes to submit Ulka Sasaki with a rear naked choke at UFC Buenos Aires. Still inside the octagon, the Brazilian challenged Joseph Benavidez. During a press conference, the flyweight fighter offered to be the reserve Alex Perez at the TUF 28 Finale, November 30th, in case he has any problems.

“If the guy who's going to fight him doesn't fight, he can call me and I'll fight him. But I respect Joseph’s moment and that he fights, and whether he wins or loses – it doesn’t matter to me – I would like to face him”, said Alexandre.

Benavidez is coming off a loss to Sergio Pettis at UFC 225 that halted a six-fight win streak. Currently, Joseph occupies third place in the flyweight rankings. The Brazilian praised the North American athlete, but assured that he is not going through the best phase of his career.

“Benavidez is a guy I've seen a lot since before he was in the UFC. I saw him fighting in the WEC, an incredible fighter. Of course, he's long past his best performance, but I respect him a lot, I respect his career a lot. He is a legend in the sport and being able to be in the UFC and face a guy with that name is a great happiness for me”, said Pantoja.
