Covington businessman says fight with Woodley is being planned for UFC 233

The confrontation between Tyron woodley e Colby covington for the unification of the welterweight belt was considered to take place at UFC 228. However, 'Chaos' had undergone nose surgery and did not accept the confrontation. According to the interim champion's manager, Dan Lambert, the meeting between the arch-rivals has been planned for UFC 233.

In an interview with the North American website Fightful, Dan said that Ultimate questioned whether Covington would be ready for the fight on January 26th in Anaheim (USA). Even with Colby prepared, the manager is not sure that Woodley will accept the duel date, as he is still recovering from hand surgery.

“The timing of the September fight (UFC 228) didn’t work for Colby because he had just had surgery and it would be a quick turnaround. They (the UFC) reached out and asked if Colby will be available in January for the 26th show (UFC 233), but they are not sure if T-Wood (Tyron woodley) will be available for the card. He's still recovering from hand surgery, so I'm not sure when the fights will be if I had to guess. It could be in January or February (UFC 234), it could be March (UFC 235) depending on T-Wood’s hand,” said Lambert.

In his last engagement, Covington defeated Rafael Dos Anjos by unanimous decision and won the interim welterweight belt. After the duel Colby needed nose surgery. With this, Ultimate climbed Darren till to face Woodley for the division title at UFC 228. Tyron won by submission and kept the belt, but suffered a hand injury. 'Chose One' had to undergo a surgical procedure and is still recovering.

The first numbered event announced by the organization is UFC 233, which takes place on January 26, 2019, in Anaheim (USA). Ultimate has not yet confirmed the main fight, but it is speculated that TJ Dillashaw e Henry Cejudo face each other in a superfight for the flyweight belt.

UFC 234 is scheduled for February 9, 2019, in Melbourne (AUS). The main fight will be between Robert whittaker e Kelvin Gastelum for the middleweight title.

On March 02nd, the organization will hold UFC 235 in Las Vegas (USA). So far, no clash has been confirmed for the card.
