Oezdemir and Smith duel in the main fight of UFC Moncton this Saturday

Ultimate returns to action after a two-week hiatus with UFC Moncton, this Saturday (27), in New Brunswick (CAN). The main fight will pit light heavyweights, Volkan oezdemir e Anthony Smith. In the co-main event, teammate Conor McGregor, Artem Lobov stares Michael Johnson by the feathers.

The fight program features the participation of two Brazilians on the preliminary card. Bantamweight Talita Bernardo fights Sarah Moras. Marcelo Golm faces Arjan Bhullar in the heavyweight division.

The main fight

The main event of the UFC in Canada will be headlined by Volkan oezdemir e Anthony Smith. The fighters go in search of victory to become the next title challenger or reserve in the fight between Jon Jones e Alexander Gustafson for the light heavyweight belt at UFC 232, December 29th in Las Vegas (USA).

Volkan oezdemir currently occupies second place in the light heavyweight rankings below the champion Daniel Cormier e Alexander Gustafson. His last appearance was against 'DC' at UFC 220 for the division title. However 'No Time' was knocked out in the second round. In his record, the Swiss has 17 fights, 15 wins and two losses. The fighter knocked out 11 of his opponents. His record is 15 seconds to end a confrontation.

Antony Smith is in 10th place in the category ranking and is coming off two important victories in his career. 'Lionheart' knocked out Rashad evans and Mauricio Rua in June and July this year. The North American has a record of 30 triumphs and 13 setbacks. His strategy is to end fights with a knockout (17 times) or submission (10 opportunities). His fastest ko was in 22 seconds.

Brazilian duo

Marcelo Golm is the first Brazilian to appear in the Ultimate Octagon in New Brunswick. The heavyweight will face Arjan Bhullar in his third fight in the franchise. In his first two fights, the São Paulo native has a victory and a defeat against Christian Colombo and Timothy Johnson, respectively. Marcelo Golm has a record with six triumphs and one setback.

Talita Bernardo has a record of two fights and two setbacks in Ultimate. A victory over hostess Sarah Moras is essential for her future in the organization. In her debut, the Rio native was knocked out by Marion Reneau in September 2017. Her second commitment was against Irene aldana in January of this year and was defeated by decision of the judges.
