the exchange of Demetrious Johnson and Ben Askren has not yet been officially announced by UFC and One Championship. Even so, 'Funky' didn't wait long to say what he wants for his future in the new organization. Through his social network, the former Bellator and One welterweight champion challenged Colby covington.
“@Colbycovmma might get beat up by @Twoodley first, but I'm calling on him to fight next. He is despicable!” Askren posted on Twitter.
'Funky' is a long-time friend of Tyron woodley. Therefore, he has to wait for the confrontation between 'Chosen One' and Covington. Due to an injury to his right thumb, the lineal welterweight champion is expected to return to the Octagon in 2019.
Before talks about switching between MMA franchises, Askren stated that he expected a fight with the former middleweight and welterweight champion, Georges St Pierre. However, 'GSP' made it clear that he did not want a fight with Ben. Currently, the Canadian is still recovering from ulcerative colitis.
Former Bellator and Championship welterweight champion Ben Askren announced his retirement from the sport following One Championship – Immortal Pursuit. In November 2017, the fighter knocked out Shinya Aoki in the first round. At 34 years old, 'Funky' remains undefeated in MMA after 18 clashes.
