After being hit by a car while riding a motorcycle alongside his girlfriend, the UFC flyweight fighter Raulian paiva decided to vent about the regrettable episode. According to the athlete, who suffered bruises on his body, the confusion caused in a nightclub in Santana, Amapá, was caused by an act of cowardice by a group of people who messed with him and Tieli Alves Medeiros, who is in a coma in the ICU.

“All of this happened out of cowardice. A guy messed with her, but I didn't care. Afterwards, it affected me, I wanted to fight because I'm a fighter, to see my potential. I didn't listen to that, and when I left, they shut me down. I said I was going to call the police and they backed off. They had a bunch of broken bottles trying to pierce me. They were with a group of people (…) When I was thrown, I knew how to fall, I didn't get hurt too much. My helmet lock was stuck. I worried, I hit a little. My girlfriend didn't have the lock on and when she flew off, her helmet came off. She fell face down on the floor, passed out. Since yesterday (Sunday) she has been in the ICU, unconscious. Doctors are doing what they can, giving us strength. I wasn't hurt too much, I didn't have anything serious, but the blow was really big. From the neck down everything is ok with her, pressure, heart, she is urinating, and feeding through the tube. The blow hit her head hard when she fell. I was lucky not to get hurt”, declared Paiva, in an interview with the Combate website.
Revealed by Contender Series Brasil, Raulian, who has not yet debuted in the UFC, guaranteed that he did not suffer major physical injuries, but admitted to being emotionally shaken by the episode. For him, the fact that he was a fighter was the biggest reason for the group of people to provoke him, even with the attempt to avoid confusion.
“When they retreated, I got on the motorbike and went home with my girlfriend. When the light turned, I slowed down and they caught me. I didn't see that they were following me, I only realized that the car was going to crash when the reflection of the headlight hit my rear view mirror. I didn't imagine it was them. When I saw that the vehicle was going to hit (the motorcycle), I tried to take as much as possible to get more on myself than on my girlfriend. They came at very high speed. It's handing it over to God. At no point did I lay a finger on anyone, on the contrary, I just wanted to avoid confusion and they did this cowardice to us. (…) I hope you pray for my girlfriend’s life, that you give her positive energy to get out of this. My life also depends on it. I'm fine physically, but mentally, I'm not. It was a great cowardice what they did to me, but we will overcome all this. I've never seen these guys before. They really wanted to provoke, they certainly knew who I was, especially because they said I was an MMA fighter”, she concluded.
Raulian paiva, just 23 years old, has 18 wins and one defeat on his record. He was hired by the UFC in August of this year, when he won Allan Puro Osso in the third episode of Contender Series Brasil, a reality show created to discover new talents.
