The trajectory of the former lightweight champion, José Aldo was portrayed on the cinema screen in the film “Stronger than the World” in 2016. The feature film was adapted for television in the series “Aldo – Mais Forte Que O Mundo” and broadcast on TV Globo. This Thursday (27), the miniseries was nominated for a 2018 International Emmy by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

The series was nominated in the “TV Movies/Miniseries” category and competes with “Kurara: The Dazzling Life of Hokusai's Daughter” (Japan), “Man in an Orange Shirt” (United Kingdom), and “Toter Winkel” (Germany ).
The miniseries was broadcast in January 2017 and was divided into four episodes. Actor José Loreto played the lightweight, José Aldo.
In 2018, the Emmys announced 44 nominees for the 11 categories. “Looking at the diversity and geographic distribution of this year’s nominations across continents and platforms, it is clear that excellence in television is a global phenomenon that transcends culture and language,” said Academy President Bruce Paisner in an interview to the G1 website.
The awards ceremony will take place on November 19th, in New York (USA).
