Pezão does not confirm agreement with UFC and fight against Velasquez

The fighter Rodrigo Minotauro published through his column in the newspaper O Extra, which Antonio Pezão would be close to an agreement with the UFC and his debut would be against the former heavyweight champion Cain Velazquez. However, through his Twitter account, Pezão denied that the fight has been agreed and that he still doesn't know who his next opponent will be.

“It would be an honor to fight with the Cain Velazquez, but I still don’t know anything”, wrote Pezão through the microblog. “I'm recovered and training hard for my next fight”, added the Brazilian heavyweight.

With an MMA record of 16 wins and just three losses, Pezão surprised the world in February 2011 by dominating the Russian Fedor Emelianenko and defeating the former PRIDE champion by technical knockout in the first round of the Strikeforce heavyweight GP. But in his last appearance, in September, in the semi-final of the tournament, the Brazilian ended up being surprised by the North American Daniel Cormier and was knocked out at the end of the first round.

PUBLICITY:

If the agreement is confirmed, Pezão would be the second Brazilian heavyweight to leave Strikeforce for the UFC. The first was the black belt Fabricio Werdum, which already has a date for its re-debut in Ultimate, against Roy Nelson at UFC 143
