In his UFC debut, Alexey Kunchenko faced Thiago Pitbull. The Brazilian is an experienced fighter who has already challenged for the welterweight belt. Even so, the Russian was not intimidated and beat the Ceará native by decision of the judges. With the impressive triumph, the former M-1 Global champion aims for a confrontation with Donald Cerrone in the future.

“The visa issues need to be resolved. I would really like to fight him,” said Kunchenko.
A possible confrontation should be scheduled for 2019, as the North American is scheduled to face Mike Perry on November 10th at UFC Denver.
However, Kunchenko assured that he only needs a week to recover his 'energy' and return to training.
“I’m great, I didn’t suffer any specific injuries. I believe I will need a week to recharge and get ready again. It’s a big victory and a big deal to have beaten an experienced fighter,” said Alexey in an interview after the UFC Moscow.
At 34 years old, Alexey Kunchenko remains undefeated after 19 fights in his career. On 13 occasions, the Russian ended the fight with a knockout of his opponent.
