With three more fights under his UFC contract, José Aldo is focused on reaching the franchise belt again. After knocking out Jeremy Stephens in July at UFC Calgary, the Brazilian is already aiming for a return in the main fight of UFC 231. During the launch of the “Laboratório da Luta” program on the “Combate” channel, the man from Manaus stated that he had offered to replace Max Holloway ou Brian ortega in the featherweight title fight, if necessary.

“Regardless of division, I know I’m in the running for the title fight. I think about myself first, about fighting on the card. That was already my idea. If I have that possibility, I will definitely be prepared. But I hope this fight happens and I think it will be a great fight”, said Aldo.
However, for this to happen, Aldo needs to be scheduled for UFC 231 on December 8, in Toronto (CAN) and one of the protagonists of the main fight is injured or has a health problem.
Second placed in the featherweight rankings, Aldo has been challenged by some fighters like his compatriot Renato Moicano. In response, the former champion stated that a confrontation with his compatriot will not happen now, as he has other opponents in mind.
“I have other opponents in mind, who will put me in a much better place than him. So, beating him is nothing more than my obligation. For me, this fight has no meaning at all. But if one day I have the opportunity to fight him, I want to fight, yes. This way, we shut up any mouth that might say anything”, concluded the former champion.
