After many changes, the card of UFC Sao Paulo there's a new fight in the co-main event. The duel between Alex Cowboy and Carlo Pedersoli at welterweight was promoted and will take the place of Ketlen Scallop and Tonya Evinger in the penultimate fight of the night at Ginásio do Ibirapuera, on September 22nd. Initially, the confrontation between Ketlen Scallop and Tonya Evinger was announced as the co-event of UFC Sao Paulo. The Brazilian was removed from the card due to a knee injury during training. Without Manauara, Ultimate chose not to find a new opponent for the North American and placed her on the UFC 229 card against Aspen ladd.
Another duel that could occupy the co-event in São Paulo would be between Antonio Shoe Guy and Elias Theodorou. Due to an injury to the Brazilian, the meeting was postponed until UFC 231 in December.
Alex Cowboy would face Neil Magny, but the fighter was called up to face Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC Buenos Aires, on November 17th. As a result, the organization chose Pedersoli to replace the North American with just a month to go before the last event in Brazil in 2018.
