In May of this year, Nick Diaz was charged and arrested on domestic violence charges. The alleged victim alleged that the fighter choked her and threw her to the ground several times. As a result, the former Strikeforce champion was charged to the New York court on three criminal charges, including two counts of domestic assault by strangulation and one count of domestic battery with substantial bodily harm. This Thursday (30), the American's lawyer, Ross Goodman told “ESPN” that the case was filed and his client is free.

According to Goodman, the Court reviewed the case again and came to the conclusion that the evidence was inconsistent. The victim gave several versions of the incident and the injuries were not consistent with the allegations. Thus, Nick's lawyer believes that his client's name will be cleared of these accusations.
“[Nick is] grateful to the District Attorney's office, which was fair and thoughtful in reviewing this case based on the evidence. Delayed truth is better than no truth and I trust that the final dismissal of all charges will be seen as a full defense for Nick and will clear his name from being associated with such horrific but false allegations,” Goodman stated.
If the charges are confirmed, Nick Diaz is free to return to Ultimate. The North American hasn't fought since January 2015, when he was defeated by Anderson Silva. After the confrontation, the use of synthetic testosterone and diuretics was detected in the Brazilian's anti-doping test and his victory was annulled. Nick also failed a drug test for marijuana use.
